Professional Learning

In 2007–08, the Financial Literacy Foundation partnered with Curriculum Corporation, the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), and state and territory education authorities to develop a professional learning package to build the capacity of primary and secondary school teachers to engage students in years K–10 in consumer and financial literacy.

The Package

The professional learning package comprises a Facilitator Guide, a Teacher Guide and a DVD. The package of materials will be updated in the near future.

Curriculum Mapping

Curriculum Mapping Documents supplement the professional learning package and assist teachers to interpret the National Consumer and Financial Literacy Framework within their state and territory curriculum. These documents will be updated once the new national curriculum documents are available.

States and Territories

The professional learning program was rolled out in 2008–09 across Australia, with Australian Government Quality Teacher Programme (AGQTP) officers in each state and territory playing a key role. All state and territory education jurisdictions made a commitment to integrate and teach consumer and financial literacy through English, Mathematics, Science, Information and Communication technology and Studies of Society and Environment. In some states and territories, professional learning continues to be rolled out and will conclude at the end of 2009.
