In 2008 and 2009, a national professional learning program for teachers in consumer and financial literacy was implemented in partnership with the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and states and territories through the Australian Government Quality Teacher Programme. All state and territory education jurisdictions made a commitment to integrate and teach consumer and financial literacy through English, mathematics, science, information and communication technology and studies of society and environment.
