The Consumer and Financial Literacy Professional Learning Program aims to build the capacity of teachers in primary and secondary schools to engage students in consumer and financial literacy.

The National Goals of Schooling provide a basis for investment in schooling to enable all young people to engage effectively with an increasingly complex world. They are embodied in the National Consumer and Financial Literacy Framework which outlines the learning descriptors for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across the dimensions of Knowledge and Understanding, Competence, Enterprise and Responsibility. These have been expanded into the Areas of Study for consumer and financial literacy – Understanding Money, Consumer Education, Personal Finance and Money Management for identification and integration in the local curriculum.
